Traitors Bio 2014
Chicago’s critically-praised live juggernaut Pink Frost return this fall with their third full length, currently in production at Steve Albini’s legendary Electrical Audio in the Windy City. Shortly before that, the quartet will reissue its 2011 debut album (originally released under the name APTEKA) which has been completely remixed from the original tapes and remastered as Pink Frost’s Gargoyle Days 2015.
Late 2014 saw the short-sharp-shock 4-song Traitors EP follow up the band’s critically praised sophomore album Sundowning from September 2013 — both of which were also recorded at Electric Audio. In the time since the album’s release, Sundowning has seen an onslaught of praise from Pitchfork, SPIN, Magnet Magazine, Noisey, Chicago Reader, as well as song placements in a feature film (“The Lookalike”) The Vampire Diaries, CSI:Miami and more.
Awash in captivating reverb, swirling melodies and soaring, anthemic refrains, Pink Frost are often compared to anything from Ride to Smashing Pumpkins to Dinosaur Jr. to The Men and beyond. Their intense yet always tuneful signature heavy-yet-droning hook-laden infectious rock continues to infect the world.
Traitors will be available on CD and download via Smart Like Virus Records on September 16th, 2014.
"An increasingly commanding quartet that embraces the power of guitar drone, tribal drum and the deep, shoegaze-era swoon." -- Chicago Tribune
"Off-kilter, yearning rock music that strives for a populism that's considered a bit declassé by most of their peers and, as such, badly missed." -- Pitchfork
