Black Moth Bio 2015

An unearthly concoction of 60s garage rock, head-spinning psychedelia and '1991-The-Year-Punk-Broke' grit, Black Moth rose from the Leeds underground scene, taking their trash culture fixations and their love for Stooges squalor and Sabbath sulphur to create an onslaught of monumental riff sorcery and serpentine grace. Their debut 'The Killing Jar' effortlessly transcended its influences to arrive at a nefarious and turbulent brew, equal parts horror movie atmosphere, thunderous drive and maverick spark, with Harriet Bevan's biting and beguiling voice leading the charge.

The Moth have had a storming couple of years since, playing festivals such as Leeds, Reading and Download, as well as two European tours and a massive 15-date UK tour, not to mention stamping their live authority on support slots with Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Red Fang, Turbowolf and Truckfighters to name a few.

In 2013 they released the AA single of Savage Dancer and Tree of Woe as part of the prestigious Too Pure Singles Club.

Darker things are afoot as 2015 looms large, with the recent arrival of their still more bold second platter, produced like their first by Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Grinderman, The Cramps). "Condemned to Hope" takes their kaleidoscopic heaviosity and sepulchral style to a whole new plateau of riff-driven dementia. With this and an appearance alongside the likes of Iggy Pop, Nick Cave and Lydia Lunch on the new Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions album 'Axels And Sockets' on the cards, the glow of this band's ampstacks and the roar of their diabolical fortitude are set to form signposts to fresh oblivion aplenty.
